Recipes

Since 1768 we’ve been making world-class whiskey and mixing it to make some equally amazing cocktail recipes. Here are just a few we’ve “unlocked” from the Williams Family safe.

Pineapple Upside-down Cake
Recipe donated by Jordan Keiper, The Tavern in Old Salem, Winston Salem, NC

1.5 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
2.5 oz pineapple juice
1 oz Dark Agave
1/2 oz cream of coconut
1/2 oz lime juice
Splash of Pomegranate Juice

Shake Old Nick, pineapple juice, agave, cream of coconut, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled martini glass rimmed with toasted coconut. Add a splash of pomegranate juice.

Nick’s Old Fashioned

2 oz Old Nick Carolina Bourbon
2- dashes of pineapple bitters (we use Crude brand)
1 orange slice
2 marichino cherries
splash of cherry juice
½ oz simple syrup
Muddle all ingredients together.  Pour over ice in a 8-9oz high ball.

Blueberry Mint Julep

1.25 oz Old Nick Carolina Whiskey
3-5 mint leaves
1-1.5oz blueberry puree (we use Real brand)
½ oz simple syrup
50/50 Lemon lime soda and club soda
In a 16oz glass, muddle mint leaves in simple syrup and Blueberry Puree.  Add ON Carolina Whiskey and crushed ice.  Top off with 50/50 blend of Lemon lime soda and club soda and stir well.

Whiskeyrita
1 1/2 ounces Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 ounce triple sec
1 ounce lime juice
1/4 ounce (i.e. a splash) simple syrup
Lime wedge and/or salt, to garnish

Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Strain into ice-filled, salt rimmed glass. Garnish with lime.

*you can alter this by adding flavored purees or syrups.  You can also make this frozen.

Apple Ginger Refresher

1.25oz Old Nick Carolina Whiskey
1-1.5 oz 50/50 mix of Apple Puree and Ginger Puree (we use Real brand)
pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
gingerale
Combine ON Carolina Whiskey, apple puree, ginger puree, and cinnamon/nutmeg in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Shake vigorously and pour in a 16oz glass filled with ice.  Top with gingerale.

Tropical Bourbon Lemonade

1.25 oz Old Nick Carolina Bourbon
1-1.5 oz 50/50 blend of mango and passion fruit puree (we use Real brand purees)
6-8 oz sour mix
Lemon Lime Soda
Combine Old Nick Carolina Bourbon, mango and passion fruit purees, and sour mix in an ice filled cocktail shaker.  Shake well.  Pour into a 16oz glass filled with ice.  Top off with lemon lime soda.

Southern Gentleman
1 oz Old Nick Carolina Whiskey
1.25 oz buttershots
3 oz orange juice
Garnish with an orange slice and a whiskey infused cherry.*

 

*For whiskey infused cherries, soak candied cherries in Old Nick White Whiskey for at least 24 hours.

Panther Creek
1 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 oz Blue Curacao
6 oz lemon-lime soda
Splash of fresh lime juice
Splash of orange juice
Sever over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with a slice of orange and lime.

Nick’s Caramel Corn
1 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 oz Salted Caramel Cream Liqueur
2 oz half and half
Chill a martini glass. Rim with salt and drizzle caramel sauce in glass. Shake ingredients vigorously in a cocktail shaker and pour into prepared martini glass.

Col. Joseph’s Peach Tea
1.5 oz Old Nick’s Carolina Whiskey
1.5 oz peach schnapps
Top off with your favorite sweet tea
Garnish with a slice of lemon or peach.

Pumpkin Cider Martini
1 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 oz Pumpkin Spice Monin
4 oz Apple Cider
Splash of ginger ale
Shake vigorously in a shaker with ice and serve in a chilled martini glass rimmed with sugar.

Pumpkin Pie Martini
1 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 oz Pumpkin Spice Monin
1/2 oz Irish Cream Liqueur
1 oz half and half
Shake vigorously in a shaker with ice and serve in a chilled martini glass rimmed with sugar.

Rebekah’s Sangria
1 cup Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 bottle of Pinot Noir (or other light bodied red wine)
1/2 cup orange liqueur
1 lb fresh mixed berries and fruits
Ginger ale
Combine fruits and berries, ONW Carolina Whiskey, and orange liqueur in a large pitcher and let soak for at least 1 hour. Add the red wine and let sit refrigerated overnight. Serve over ice and top with a splash of ginger ale.

Dirty Shirley
1 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 oz grenadine
4 oz lemon-lime soda
Serve over ice and garnish with whiskey infused cherries.

Prohibition
1 oz Old Nick Carolina Whiskey
1 oz peach schnapps
1 oz rum
3/4 oz grenadine
2 oz pineapple juice
3 oz Orange Juice
Garnish with a slice of pineapple and a whiskey infused cherry.*

 

*For whiskey infused cherries, soak candied cherries in Old Nick White Whiskey for at least 24 hours.

Sex at the Creek
1 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1 oz Peach Schnapps
2 oz cranberry juice
2 oz orange juice
2 oz pineapple juice
Serve over ice and garnish with an orange slice.

Southern Sunrise (Shot)
.25 oz Old Nick Carolina Whiskey
.25 oz buttershots
.5 oz orange juice
Pour candied cherry juice or grenadine on top.

Panther Nation
1 oz Old Nick Williams Carolina Whiskey
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
1 oz Peach Schnapps
Lemonade

Pour all liquors in a short glass over ice and top with your favorite lemonade.
